My Friday Thought: When things are difficult hug a dog

Everyone needs something to help them cope whether it be a cuddle with a pet, talking with friends or running on a treadmill. Within a working context, we might not provide a dog on hand for cuddling (although I think this a worthwhile element to add within a contract), however it is important for us to recognise when things might be hard.

Everyone has a personal life and either that or work could be the cause of difficulties, however, not everyone copes in the same way. As a leader it is important to provide a save space so people can bring their authentic self to work, but also we need to notice if they appear to be under more pressure.

This isn't always the same for everyone, so having a general understanding of your team, will help you notice if there are other things going on. No it isn't technically your job, but to be a good leader, I do think it is your responsibility. How well do you know your team?
