My Friday Thought: Team meet-ups are important, but social interactions are vital.

This week the value of sub-teams interactions and collaboration was an important end of the year. Whilst there was a review the strategic roadmap for the upcoming period, that wasn't the main point.

• Could the strategic direction have been delivered through an on-line meeting 100% Yes
• Could we have the most prestigious award of the year (Christmas Jumper)? 75% Highly possible
• Could we have had fun together, with laughing? 50% Probably
• Could we have had lunch together eating whilst having conversations and building social bonds which will support our team working. Followed by fun and jovial team building through the general fun of a a few board games. Not likely

In this virtual world, which provides multi benefits for people, face to face meet-ups to me have to be more than the work, they must also consider how we build the team working dynamic to support us working even better in a virtual environment. Days like this, provide the success for the next year.
