My Friday Thought: With a 'server headache' it is vital to not ignore the mild signs and provide a server its paracetamol before the migraine hits!

In humans a headache is pain or discomfort and whilst in themselves, regardless of being mild or severe (migraine), are benign they can indicate something more serious. Generally recognising and treating the mild instances prevents a the more performance impacting effects of a migraine.

Whilst technically server don't have headaches, they can give virtual headaches to us if we don't recognise the signs of a 'server headache'. This is why our monitoring is vital to enable us to be pro-active to warning notices (mild headache) before a migraine hits - aka service outage.

Additionally we need to ensure that our alerts are set to the appropriate level so they don't become white noise and that every alerts is a call to action for the team to do something - providing the paracetamol before complete shutdown.
