My Friday Thought: Success is a team sport

Having recently lead a huge migration which in involved changes outside of the team, the success of the delivery isn't down to luck or one thing. It isn't one achievement it is an accumulation of overcoming set backs, individuals hard work and team determination.

The team came across organisational architectural set backs which required out of the box thinking to resolve. They stumbled into networking commercial challenges they embraced the extra work focusing on the end goal. When secuitry roadblocks hit shown determination in pushing back against the decision.

This wasn't one thing that made this a success, but a drive to resolve all and every block to ensure that the end purpose which provided a huge organisation benefit could be met without significant user impacts or additional financial measures.

Leading a team through this, has demonstrated the value in a collective vision where the whole team drives towards that together. Additional it has taught me the value of looking forward over worrying about the date something should have been provided. Success really is a team sport.
