Survivorship/Sampling Bias
My Friday Thought: Contemplating Abraham Wald and survivorship bias and the link to who remains within a organisation and what that can mean.
Survivorship basis is only looking at the information that survived and using that to form your conclusion. Abraham Wald's pushed through this when he suggested rather than focusing on where bullet holes were on returned planes within WW2 the focus should rather focusing be on where they didn't see holes.
I have been wondering how this could link into who is within a organisation and is it because they process the skills, personality and commitment to stay, or simply an indication that the 'best' people/skill etc just left. How do we know we aren't saying 'X' is great and missing the question why 'Y' and 'Z' left.
