Watermelon

My Friday Thought: Why does everyone seem to pretend they have watermelons when really they have a punnet of strawberries.

Transparency is key to any delivery, but far to often too many people work hard to present a watermelon view of the world. Green on the outside, Red on the inside.

This doesn't help anyone, it sets everyone up for failure. We should be honest if there are risk and concerns and highlight them all up front. Maybe having more lovely strawberries as the representation of the work.

Let's face it, we would all love a green grape, but that honestly isn't likely to happen. More people especially within tech need to stop presenting a positive and optimistic view to stakeholders and focus on reality and back-up options.
